Are old cruise ships still a good experience? (Answers: 5) (Comments: 1)
I've heard scary stories about older ships (1991-1999) being smelly, staff being less friendly, and amenities looking dreary or non-exciting - in other words, you pay for what you get. Can anyone corroborate these sentiments? Should I be planning a cruise to lets say the Bahamas on a older or new cruise ship? Is there truly a difference (other than cost).

My wife and I are taking our 3 kids on a cruise and want to have us all in the same room. We're having trouble finding a cruise ship that will allow us to be in the same room without booking a suite. Someone said the Carnival Triumph or Legend. Anyone else know any specific ships?
